Prawn teriyaki

Teriyaki is a cooking technique used in Japanese cuisine in which foods are broiled or grilled with a glaze of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar.Mirin is an essential ingredient used in Japanese cuisine. It is a kind of rice wine , but with a lower alcohol content and higher sugar content.

  • 5 to 6 Cleaned Prawns
  • 7 to 8 Garlic cloves minced and crushed
  • 1/2 tbsp Ginger grated
  • 1 Capsicum one chopped
  • 1 tbsp Brown rice vinegar or lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp Dark soya sauce
  • 1 tbsp Red wine
  • 2 to 3 Green chillies slit
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp Corn flour mixed with 4 tbsps of water.

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Marinate the prawns with salt,red wine and lemon juice for 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Add a tbsp of oil in the pan
  3. Add sugar,let it caramellize
  4. Add garlic ,saute and add capsicum.Let it get cooked for few minutes
  5. Add soya sauce and green chillies.
  6. Add the prawns with the marinate.Let it get coated evenly.
  7. Add the corn flour mixture and cook until it forms a nice thick gravy kind of consistency.[lot of gravy is not preferred].
  8. Check salt,add some if required.
  9. Decorate with spring onions.
  10. Serve hot with rice
