Kairi gosht recipe

This is a Parsi recipe where the mutton is cooked with spices and ripe mango .

  • 400 gm mutton
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 3 tbsp of ginger garlic, and green chilies paste
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 or 2 ripe mangoes chopped
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 to 3 dry red chilies
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Marinate mutton with curd and green chili paste
  2. Add a tempering of cumin seeds and red chilies
  3. Fry onions and ginger garlic paste
  4. Add red chili and turmeric powder
  5. Add potato and raw papaya pieces
  6. Add the mutton pieces and mangoes, and cover and cook for 30 mins
  7. Add milk to the gravy
  8. Sprinkle garam masala
  9. Pressure cook or cover cook till the mutton is tender
