This year Valentine's Day I decided to make these heart-shaped pretty looking homemade pasta in a beetroot-based pink sauce. The dish is pretty, delicious, and savory and can be served for valentine’s day dinner.

  • 2 cups refined flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Sauce

  • 1 beetroot
  • 1 cup cream
  • 2 garlic grated
  • 1/2 cup cheddar grated
  • chopped basil leaves
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper

  1. Pour the flour into a flat container
  2. Make a well in the center.
  3. Add the eggs
  4. Add salt.
  5. Bring everything together with fingers.
  6. Knead it and make a firm dough.
  7. Add little milk if it’s too dry.
  8. Roll the dough into a very thin sheet.
  9. With a cookie cutter cut heart shapes.
  10. Boil water in a colander.
  11. Add the pasta and cook till they start floating in the water.

Sauce

  1. Boil the beetroot till tender
  2. Make a puree.
  3. In a pan add butter.
  4. Add grated garlic
  5. Add the beetroot puree
  6. Add fresh cream and stir
  7. Add grated cheddar and stir.
  8. Add the boiled pasta
  9. Stir in some chopped basil leaves
  10. Sprinkle some black pepper and serve.
