Prawn Biryani

This is a rustic quick biryani prepared in Malvani style. Malvan is a coastal town in the Sindhudurg district of Maharastra, surrounded by the blue Arabian sea and bordered by the green lace of coconut trees. Being coastal town seafood and coconut are an inevitable part of the cuisine. This biryani is more like a pulao where the shrimps are fried together with cooked rice and spices. I used a readymade biryani masala here, you can also use a mixture of whole spices ground together like cinnamon, cloves, green cardamom, black cardamom, star anise. Due to the addition of coconut, the favor of seafood is enhanced to a different level altogether. Overall an amazing filling and flavorsome one pot meal.
