Gawar ki sabzi recipe | cluster beans recipe for rice

Gavar fali , gavar or cluster beans has low glycemic index and high in fibre content. Crunchy and with a hint of bitter sweet in taste this forms a very delicious vegetable sides to be served with dal and rice or flatbreads. It forms a balanced meal when cooked with potatoes and served with any carbohydrate.

Gavar ki sabzi

Ingredients

  • 200 gm cluster beans
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 4 to 5 garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • salt to taste
  • sugar to taste
  • 2 to 4 green chilies
  • 2 medium sized potatoes quartered
  • 1 tomato chopped

 Preparations

  • Cut the head and tails of each cluster bean and chop them into 2 to 3 pieces.
  • Heat oil
  • Fry potatoes till light brown and take out
  • Fry onions
  • Add garlic followed by tomatoes and fry
  • Add turmeric, cumin ,chili powder and sauté.
  • Add the cluster beans .Sauté
  • Add salt and sugar to taste.
  • Add 1 cup of water and cover cook 20 minutes
  • Simmer on low heat  till vegetables are tender.
  • Add green chilies
  • Add garam masala and mix.
  • Serve with hot rice.
