I would like to thank Anjali Bhargava for this wonderful innovative recipe. I had brought around 1/2 kg of green chana with shells from market and wanted to cook them. I asked my friend for a traditional recipe from their community as I have never seen this cooked in my family. She gave me this recipe for a sweet dessert can be prepared during any Indian festival.
During Winter you can find these green chickpeas selling in heaps in the vegetable market. They are sold with a semi hard coating ,which has to be removed to find these tender soft green chanas inside. Each shell has maximum1 or 2 chickpeas.Deshelling them is time consuming.
