Pound cake refers to a type of cake traditionally made with a pound of each of four ingredients: flour, butter, eggs, and sugar. However, any cake made with a 1:1:1:1 ratio, by weight, of flour, butter, eggs, and sugar may also be called a pound cake, as it yields the same results. But over time we have become more calorie conscious so our ingredients have changed.
This can be a easy to prepare dish specially when baking with kids.

 

for 500  gm cake you require

 

  1. flour (2 cups) or 16tbsp
  2. Sugar (1 cup)
  3. Eggs(2)
  4. Baking powder (2 tsp)
  5. Milk (1 cup)
  6. Vanilla(2 tsp)
  7. Orange juice (2 tsp) optional
  8. Butter (1 cup)
for the glaze
  1. Orange jam  (1/2 cup)
  2. Powdered sugar 2 tbsp
  3. Egg White(1)
Preparation
  1. Grease the baking tin.
  2. Preheat the oven or microwave in the convection mode at 200 degrees.
  3. Sieve the flour and baking powder.
  4. Beat the butter and sugar into a creamy fluffy mixture.Add orange juice.
  5. Add the eggs and vanilla  to the butter mixture and beat till thoroughly mixed.
  6. Add the flour mixture to the eggs and beat till creamy.
  7. Pour the mixture in the mold and tap.
  8. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes till cooked and top browned.

 

Glaze

 

  1. Mix the orange jam with the egg white and sugar into a creamy mixture
  2. Even the top of the cake with a knife.
  3. coat the top of the cake with this mixture with a spatula.
  4. Grill the top for 3 to 5 minutes in the oven till the glaze is set.
  5. Decorate with grated chocolate.
Serve with tea or ice cream.
