I love experimenting with food and learn new techniques .Thus I came across this dish called teriyaki.Teriyaki is a cooking technique used in Japanese cuisine in which foods are broiled or grilled with a glaze of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar.Mirin is an essential ingredient used in Japanese cuisine. It is a kind of rice wine , but with a lower alcohol content and higher sugar content.You can get teriyaki marinade in stores.If it is not available you can substitute it with sugar,red wine and soya sauce.It is a very quick recipe with a strong extra ordinary flavour.You can enjoy it as a side dish with rice.
1.Cleaned Prawns(5 to 6)
2.Garlic (7 to 8 cloves) minced and crushed
3.Ginger (1/2 tbsp grated)
4.Capsicum (one chopped)
5.Brown rice vinegar or lemon juice(1 tbsp)
6.Dark soya sauce(2 tbsp)
7.Red wine (1 tbsp)
8.Green chillies( slit 2 to 3)
10.Corn flour(1/2 tbsp) mixed with 4 tbsps of water.
1.Marinate the prawns with salt,red wine and lemon juice for 15 to 20 minutes.
2.add a tbsp of oil in the pan
3.Add sugar,let it caramelize
4.Add garlic ,saute and add capsicum.Let it get cooked for few minutes
5.Add soya sauce and green chillies.
6.Add the prawns with the marinate.Let it get coated evenly.
7.Add the corn flour mixture and cook until it forms a nice thick gravy kind of consistency.[lot of gravy is not preferred].
8.Check salt,add some if required.
9.Decorate with spring onions.
10.Serve hot with rice
