Fish potato fantasy(Crunchy potato coated fish fry)

The outcome of this recipe really made me feel happy from inside. idea came to my mind when  there were few  potatoes grated for our traditional recipe “jhuri aloo  bhaja” or crunchy potato fries.it is very simple but unique recipe,where we need to deep fry finely shredded potatoes ,in a way such that they do not stick to each other.these deep fried crispy potatoes are a very old traditional recipe of Bengal which tastes delicious when served with dal (lentils)and rice.These were the favorite starters of Nobel laureate Rabindranth Tagore who became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913.He belonged to a renowned family of intellectuals involved in Bengal Renaissance and the women of the family were famous for their beauty and culinary skills.
These potatoes are crispy than usual french fries and the fish fillets are coated with these instead of bread.

Ingredients

1.Fish fillets(basa OR salmon or haddock)
2.Ginger garlic paste(1 tbsp)
3.Lemon juice (1 lemon)
4.Salt (as per taste)
5.Potatoes (3 to 4 grated finely through grater)
6.Cornflour(1 cup)
7.Egg(1)
8.Green chillies(1)

Crispy potato fries

Preparation

1.Cut the fish fillets into rectangular shape.
2.Marinate them with salt,ginger ,garlic and green chillies paste and lemon juice for 15 minutes.
3.Add the grated potatoes in ice cold water and wash them thoroughly to remove stickiness.if needed change water.
4.Then strain the water.wipe the potatoes dry.
5.Dip the fish pieces in beaten egg.
6.Roll them over cornflour and then grated potatoes to coat nicely on all sides.
7.Deep fry in hot oil on medium heat.
8.Fry the leftover potatoes in hot oil on high heat till they all become crispy and brown.
8.Serve hot with ketchup on a bed of crispy fried potatoes.
