pan fried lemon pepper fish

This recipe is inspired by a dish I had in Waldrof ,a restaurant in Calcutta. It is known for it traditional and fusion Chinese cuisine. My mother in law was all in praises for this place so I decided to give it a go for celebrating my daughter’s birthday with my mom and my friend when I was in Calcutta in December. It was a chilly night and the city was preparing for the New year’s eve, with beautiful lighting decorations all around. My daughter’s birthday is on 29th December ,so it is a time  to take down Christmas decorations but we were still in a mood of celebration and planning for the upcoming New year’s eve.

The dish was smelling heavenly from the basil and it was a winning combination. The fish pieces were succulent and almost melt into mouth. The chef has given the dish a nutty texture by adding roasted sesame seeds. The ambiance of the restaurant was classy and spacious .My daughter and her friends had enough place to play  around. You know how difficult is to tie small kids to one place!

This is a easy to make dish for fish lovers which is low in calories and can be served as an appetizer in any party.Unfortunately I could not get basil leaves in the market and was compelled to try a substitution with lemon zest which came out to be a winner. The pan fried lemon pepper fish is soft and is full of flavor from lemon. You can definitely impress your guests with this tasty dish.
