Grilled Peas sandwich

Green peas are popular food during Winter season Because of their attractive color ,sweet taste and starchy texture.Besides being full of antioxidants green peas contain phytonutrients which can serve as a protection against stomach cancer.This is a very interesting filling which is generally used traditionally for stuffing flat breads but in this recipe the same filling can be used to make sandwich.
This is a perfect fusion of the traditional Indian and a popular English breakfast.


  1. Green peas (1 cup)
  2. Bread ( 4 slices)
  3. Asafoetida(1 tsp)
  4. Ginger paste(1 tbsp)
  5. Cumin powder(1 tsp)
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Mozarella(chopped 1/2 cup)
  8. Oil (1 tbsp)
  9. Green Chilies(2)
  10. Butter(1 tsp)
  1. Make a almost smooth paste of green peas.
  2. Add a tbsp of oil in the pan.
  3. Add ginger- chilly paste and fry.
  4.  Add asafoetida and cumin powder.
  5. Add the peas paste.
  6. Add salt to taste and saute vigorously on low flame until the mixture does not leave the sides of the pan.
  7. Heat the sandwich griller.
  8. Place a spoonful of filling on one slice of the bread .
  9. Top with mozarella .Cover with a top slice.Like this make 2 sandwiches
  10. Place a tsp of butter on the hot griller.Place the sandwiches.
  11. Place another tsp of butter on the top slice and grill for 5 to 10 minutes.
  12. Serve with hot tea or coffee.
