This is a very popular dessert and it is must in our home during any festive season.It goes well with fried rice,pilaf,steamed rice,khichdi ,anything.You can add your choice of fruits like apple ,pine apple ,papaya ,mango etc to make a variant.You can vary the sugar content as per your taste.Taking a photo of it was a challenge for me ,it has a dark look but it tastes awesome.
1.6 to 7 Tomatoes (roughly chpped)
2.Seedless Dates(1 cup)
3.1/2 cup tamarind paste
4.1 and 1/2 cups of sugar
5.1.2 tsp od nigella seeds
6.A few Methi(Fenugreek seeds)
7Red chily whole(1)
8.For seasoning 1 pinch of Cumin powder and a pinch red chily powder.
9.a handful of kismis.
1.Add a tbsp of oil in the wok
2.Once the oil is heated add nigella seeds ,fenugreek seeds and red chilly whole
3.Add tomatoes and dates and cook till they are mashed and form a thick semi liquid mixture.
5.Add the tamarind paste.
6.Boil the mixture till the sugar dissolve.
7.Don’t let the mixture solidify.
8.Add a pinch of salt as it enhance the taste.
9.For seasoning roast a pinch of cumin and red chilly powder on the tawa and sprinkle it on top of the dish.
