Bong Connection Fish

It is a popular street food in Kolkata. We call it Benfish and believe me I have tried all possible means to find out this secret recipe but in vain.At last I had read it from a Web page and added my own innovations to make this recipe which tastes 90% as good as  that of the actual fry which I used to love when I was a child.I can’t vouch for its health benefits except that it is a fish recipe and I used whole wheat flour instead of maida(refined wheat flour)But it is very tempting and extremely good to taste.

  1. boneless fish fillets( cut to 4 to 5 pieces)
  2. ginger garlic paste(2 tbsp)
  3. lime juice(juice of 1 lemon)
  4. white pepper(1/2 tbsp)
  5. salt(as per taste)
  6. butter(1 cup)
  7. oil 1 cup
  8. 2 eggs
  9. baking soda (1/2 tbsp)
  10. milk (1/4th cup)
  11. wheat flour (2 cups)

  • marinate the fish with salt ,lemon juice and ginger garlic paste and pepper for 15 minutes
  1. make a thick batter with flour ,eggs ,soda
  2. beat the mixture till fluffy
  3. add milk to the mixture to loosen the batter .
  4. but the batter should be thick and fluffy.
  1. add butter and oil in the wok.
  2. dip the fillets in the batter and deep fry till reddish brown.
  3. the fries will be fluffy and crispy to taste
  4. serve as a starter with tomato ketchup or mustard sauce
