Icy spicy Jaljeera

This is a drink which is very popular during Indian Summer season.It has digestive qualities as well due to the presence of Ginger and cumin.The  word Jal-Jeera contains the word Jeera which means cumin in English.

Ingredients
  1. Cumin (whole) 1 tbsp
  2. Fennel seeds(whole) 1/2 tbsp
  3. Dry mango powder(1/4th tsp)
  4. Dry ginger powder(1/2 tsp)
  5. Black pepper (1/4th tsp)
  6. Red chilly powder(A pinch)
  7. Rock salt or black salt(as per taste)
  8. Lemon juice(1 lemon)
  9. Sugar(1/2 tsp) optional
  10. Soda water (3 cups) alternatively chilled water
  11. Mint leaves(for garnish)
Preparation
  1. Dry roast the ingredients cumin,black pepper,fennel seeds,dry ginger,red chilly powder  and dry  mango powder in a pan for a few seconds till it emanates beautiful spicy aroma. Saute and Take care not to smoke or burn the spices.
  2. Powder the spices finely in a blender.
  3. Add the spices in chilled Soda water and mix.
  4. Add black salt and sugar as per taste
  5. Strain the mixture.
  6. Add lemon juice.
  7. Serve cold with ice cubes and mint garnish before or after meal.
